A workshop with Éireann Lorsung, 2025 Mary Routt Endowed Chair in Writing at Scripps College

This workshop is designed to refresh your view of the world, of language, of your own ideas and habits, and of writing and artmaking itself. We will spend time walking, looking, drawing (even if you’re “not great at drawing”), writing (even if you’re “not a writer”), thinking, talking. You’ll leave with a reinvigorated sense of play. Visual artists and writers (and people who think they are neither) are welcome—whatever your specialization, this will be a generative space. Art supplies, snacks and tea/coffee will be provided. Éireann Lorsung works in a field of images, objects, movement, and texts. A 2016 NEA Fellow and the spring 2025 Mary Routt Endowed Chair in Writing at Scripps College, her most recent collection is The Century (Milkweed, 2020). Carcanet Press (UK) will publish Pattern-book in May 2025.
